Contractor Prequalification

Even prior to bid advertisement, NCDOT advises contractors to verify your prequalification status and ensure a current listing with the Prequalification Unit.

Please note that Prime Contractors wishing to bid on railroad roadbed projects must be prequalified for code 5090, RAILROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY PRIME CONTRACTOR (click for prequalification requirements.)

(Although the website is intended to be a resource for contractors to get introduced to the requirements of the PIP and NCDOT, it does not provide a comprehensive listing of all requirements.)

In order to submit bids for NCDOT contracts, Prime Contractors must be prequalified and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) must be certified in NC at the time of bid opening.  All contractor licenses must be obtained prior to execution of contracts with NCDOT.
